World-class brown bear viewing around Katmai and Lake Clark National Park.
Photograph Coastal Brown Bears in the creeks fishing for salmon during the salmon run!
(may have 1 seat left)
Join us on this bucket-list tour to photograph the coastal brown bears of Alaska during salmon season. We offer small group photo tours with flexible schedules.
The guides will then select the destination(s) and transportation (wheeled or float planes or boats) to put us in the right spot at the right time.
I appreciate Art Wolfe introduced me to Jerry, the owner of our hosting lodge, and giving his company a glowing recommendation. They are Art’s go to guides for brown bears. The vast majority of their business is with nature photographers. They understand photographers. This is why I have teamed up with them.
The chef will spoil you with delicious meals that cater to your eating preferences like meat lovers, vegetarian, or to avoid specific food allergies.
Location:
We will be based on the North shore of Lake Iliamna (Alaska’s largest lake), surrounded by 18 million acres of roadless wilderness and accessible only by bush plane. The lodge is nestled between Katmai National Park and Lake Clark National Park. Each day we will be taken to the destination via float plans, wheeled planes, or boats. This gives great flexibility to see multiple great locations.
Transportation:
The lodge has 4 planes (2 wheeled/2float), 14 jet boats, rafts, and kayaks to transport us around this bear haven.
Physical Demands:
Trips are moderate to difficult but tailored to your physical needs. With the transportation options and destination selections they can accommodate anyone in reasonable shape. Most walking is on somewhat level surfaces without must elevation change. At times we may be in shallow salmon filled streams observing the bears fishing. The terrain can be muddy and/or slippery. We will take our time and focus on everyone being safe. Over a day of photography we could average 3 to 5 miles of walking. The guide is very good about lending a steading hand.
